Aishwarya Rai has been in the news a lot recently, with most stories focusing on her post-pregnancy weight, a highly controversial topic. This time, however, the Bollywood star can be proud, as the movie Devdas, in which Aishwarya was featured, has made Time Magazine‘s list of the ten Greatest Movies of the Millenium.

Devdas, a 2002 film by Sanjay leela Bhansali, “is the only Indian film to feature in Time magazine’s list of the millenium’s 10 greatest movies.” As one can imagine, this honor is a phenomenal accomplishment for Bollywood and the Hindu film industry.

Aishwarya Rai played the part of Paro in the movie, the inspiration of which came from a 1901 novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.

Bhansali said, “The news couldn’t have come at a better time as Devdas completes 10 momentous years. It is a very proud and happy moment for me. For a mainstream Hindi film like Devdas, to gain such a cinematic recognition and be a part of such an illustrious list is an honour, not just for me but for Indian film industry at large.”

Devdas made the eighth position on Time Magazine‘s list. There is no doubt that this is also a very proud moment for Aishwarya Rai.
